a wonderful time communicating with my match. We got to talk about life, experiences, current events as well as career goals and aspirations!
- Mentor
You and your mentor can explore a set of activities and resources relating to a wide variety of science and engineering topics and careers during the program year. Keep track as you complete the various sections, and you’ll be able to earn some prizes. The Activity Centre on your dashboard will link you to these resources once they are ready.
Ten different sets of activities will be posted during the program year, and we encourage you to explore them all! Each set will include the following five parts:
- Building your mentoring connection: So now you have a mentor – what’s next? How will it work? These activities will help you and your mentor get to know each other and develop your connection through the year. You’ll have a chance to think about important ideas like goal setting and feedback, to get in touch with your strengths and talents, and to reflect on your Cybermentor experience.
- Spotlight on women of science and engineering: Girls and young women have made many extraordinary accomplishments in science, mathematics and engineering. Over the year you will find inspiration in the amazing stories that you read here. As you read, take note of the challenges they faced, the individuals that encouraged them along the way, and the goals they set for their futures.
- Planning for your future – careers in science and engineering: By the year 2010 the need for people in careers associated with science, math and engineering will increase dramatically. Many of these careers will be in new and exciting areas. Are you planning to take advantage of the incredible opportunities taking shape? You can work with your mentor to look at where the jobs are, deciding on a career that’s right for you, classes to take in high school or university, and what some of the careers involve. This section will guide you with a series of steps to help you develop a plan and set career goals.
- Discussion Planet: This is Cybermentor’s question and answer space. We hope you’ll get answers to your mentoring and science related questions. Join in the discussions and have your say!
