Cybermentor +

The Science Fair with Flair

Cybermentor is excited to introduce a new, optional program for our participants that will begin in September 2020 and go until June 2021.

The Cybermentor + program is a project-based mentoring program for Cybermentor participants that matches them with mentors who will support and guide them through a research project of their own choosing. The Cybermentor + program will provide mentors with experience in a STEAM field related to the topic area of your choice, and monthly workshops that will support and guide you through the project process.

We are currently accepting applications— apply today!

Upon the completion of this program, participants will have gained the following:

-STEAM skills (research, design, data analysis, literacy and presentation skills) through the development and presentation of a STEAM project

-Communication and relationship building skills (through interacting with mentors and the Cybermentor + cohort)

-A STEAM project that can be entered into other science fairs

FAQs

Who can apply?

Mentors and mentees in the Cybermentor community can apply to participate in Cybermentor +.

How much does it cost?

Cybermentor + does not cost anything. There may be funds available to support the purchase of supplies you may need for your project.

Do I have to have a project in mind when I sign up?

No! You do not need to know ANYTHING going into this program, just have an interest and passion for all things STEAM. We will support you in finding your project idea, and guide you through the process. All you need is curiosity and enthusiasm!

What is the time commitment?

You will be expected to chat with your match once a week to get to know each other, and also explore your topic. We will also host monthly workshops to provide information about the research process, and give you a chance to chat with fellow science fair cohort members about your project. You will be expected to work on your project throughout the school year and present your final project in June. You will be able to use this project in other science fairs, and you can include your participation on your resume and academic applications.
